Travel Tip: HotelTonight App

If you take spontaneous trips or procrastinate with travel plans, the HotelTonight app provides last minute deals for a hotel room as late as 2am for that same night, the next night, or up to 100 days in advance.  I have used it several times in different states and found last minute deals on the app are cheaper than third party travel websites and even than the hotel itself.  (Be sure to check that you are getting the best deal though!)

I have actually NOT reserved a hotel in advance because the rates were high (1-2 weeks before the actual stay) and relied on HotelTonight to book a room (in Palm Springs, CA) cheaper than what I would have paid reserving in advance.

I have also taken a last minute weekend getaway (Las Vegas, NV) when I randomly found a great hotel rate through the app.

They do have a program called HT Perks, which basically provides better discounted rates the more you book through the app.   Everyone starts at level one and gets rates according to your physical location.  After spending $250, a 5% discount is applied to your rates.  After $1000, 10% off and so on.
