It can be tough to self-evaluate what resolutions were completed and which were not, but I feel it is a necessary exercise for me since one of my 2020 resolutions is to be happy with myself and my life exactly as it is. This means recognizing my successes and accepting my failures with an appreciation for both. We are always hardest on ourselves, but I am trying to be less so on myself. Last year, I resolved to make healthier choices in my life. That included:
- Drinking more water- I got an app that reminds me to drink water throughout the day, which actually ensured I drank more water
- Getting more sleep – I tried so many different things this year, but can’t say I was successful with this one unfortunately since my insomnia usually won out
- Flossing my teeth daily – I changed my floss brand to coco floss and it made a huge difference because I actually enjoy flossing now. While I don’t do it daily, I am so much better about doing it several times a week
- Going to the chiropractor/massage therapist when I’m in more pain than usual – While I didn’t go to the chiropractor much at all, I definitely went to get massages regularly
- Eating more fruits and vegetables – buying more fruits and vegetables instead of processed things like chips and cookies made a difference, forcing me to eat healthier.
- Choosing lean meats – I didn’t do this at all, but I’m actually okay with this because I love my fatty marbled rib eye steaks
- Taking vitamins/probiotics – towards the end of the year I started taking both Yoli and Doterra supplements and have increasingly been more consistent with them.
- Utilizing essential oils – absolutely have been diffusing, taking orally and applying topically regularly
- Taking breaks and standing more when I work – the first bullet helped me with taking super quick breaks because I would have to get up regularly to get more water and use the restroom. I didn’t stand more when I work though.
- Meditating – I can’t say this is a regular practice for me by any means, but I believe I have mediated more in 2019 than the year before
- Taking more time to relax and have fun – I have purposefully not done something on my to do list or stopped from finishing it to take time to relax and/or have fun. I remind myself that life is short and not everything has to be done before I take care of myself or do something that will be enjoyable.
- Walking – Didn’t make concerted effort on this one
- Regular facials and using the masks that I have (including the new ones I got for Christmas) – I actually finished one of my mask jars and did use several of the facial paper masks I received, but I did buy and receive even more of them so still have several to use up.
- Eating less – Being more mindful of portion control and listening to my body to notice when I’m not hungry vs. full has become easier with more practice
- Using less chemicals – After using up a lot of cleaners in my house, I’ve transitioned to using Doterra’s On Guard Concentrated cleaner instead of buying more chemical based cleaners to replace the ones I finished
- Exercising more – I joined a gym and while I had many weeks where I didn’t go, I am proud of myself for what I did do because it has been so many years where I haven’t even attempted to regularly go to a gym
- Stretching – Didn’t do this one at all
- Disinfecting my laptop/keyboard more often – Completely forgot I even planned to do this unfortunately
- Being creative (blogging, crafting, etc) – While I didn’t blog as much as I did the year before, I did do more craft projects which I really enjoyed doing
- Feeding my spirituality, less screen time – Didn’t do anything to feed my spirituality but I did opt to do other things like craft projects instead of screen time
- Increasing gratitude practice – Faltered some months on this, but picked it back up when I remembered
- Doing more things that make me happy and less of the things that make me feel the opposite – I definitely did this, saying no to things that I knew I wouldn’t enjoy and making time to do things that I would.
Overall, I am happy with my successes and am letting go of the things I didn’t knowing that I can always strive to do better. How did you do with your 2019 resolutions?

Yeah I’m going to have to change up my diet this year as well to go with this whole getting back in shape thing.
I don’t disagree with the lean meat thing buuut some recipes turn out better with not so lean. Of course these should be used in moderation but in my view we’re all allowed our indulgent times.
Notice no matter what the posts are about the food always tends to catch my eye? Lol
