I came across a booth that showcased a product my brother would likely have appreciated as an Electrical Engineer. The rechargeable pen-like handheld tool called Pokit PRO is an all-in-one multimeter, oscilloscope and logger for electronics, automotive applications, and home electrical that connects to an app via bluetooth. I’ll be the first to admit I have no clue what an oscilloscope is, but I do own a multimeter and while I haven’t done a lot of electrical work on my own outside of swapping out all my outlets and light switches, I have recently used my multimeter to check the wiring of my doorbell since I was having issues with installing a new video doorbell.

What I liked was the size of the tool, significantly smaller than my multimeter and the fact that the black lead has a built in cable and probe storage in the body of the unit. I simply wrap my cables around the multimeter body and it constantly gets tangled or unraveled in my tool bag. I love that this is small, sleek and comes with a hard case to store the unit as well as the included wire grip clips, probe tip cover, spare fuse and charging cable. Lastly, it has a light to shine directly on what you are working on.

This can be backed on Indiegogo for $96 with shipping estimated for June 2020. If you need another reason to feel good about buying this, this company pledges to give back at least 1/5th of their profits to charities that help break the poverty cycle.
If you work on small electrical projects, there is another item this company sells that you can buy now called the pokitMeter for $89. This is the world’s smallest wireless multimeter, ossicoscope and logger. The leads retract into the circular body similar to the soft measuring tapes do. The voltage range is 10mV to 60V DC, 42V AC (RMS) so not something that can be used for home power outlets as an example. If you are seriously interested in the pokitMeter, drop a comment and I can give you my CES discount code.
