This a post I drafted back in 2018 that I never finished and published that I am finally making time to complete!
There are so many different ways to peel and press garlic, with various tools and hacks. I was intrigued with Dreamfarm’s Garject, a proclaimed Self-Cleaning Garlic Press with Peel Eject. When I first saw a video of this product, which you can see directly on their website linked previously, I was impressed that it handles multiple unpeeled garlic cloves, has a built in scraper for the pressed garlic and how it ejects the garlic peel out for you. These are features I’ve never seen before in other garlic presses. I have purchased other Dreamfarm products that I love in the past so decided to buy the garlic press despite it’s high price tag.
Here’s what I thought: The scraper worked fine enough but it was the ejector of the garlic peel that didn’t work at all for me. It didn’t matter if I tried it with one garlic clove or 2 or 3 cloves, the peel never would eject like it would on their videos. The other thing that I really didn’t like, which was a deal breaker for me is their claim that all you have to do is rinse the Garject to clean it. I found it difficult to clean because I would have to dig out the peel and pieces of garlic would be stuck everywhere inside it. I spent a lot more time than I would like trying to fish out random pieces of garlic stuck in the tiny holes. If I compared this to a cheaper garlic press I had, the other press was easier to clean. Lastly, it was hard for me to press the garlic, always having to use two hands and still sometimes struggling with it. My previous garlic press was usable with only one hand so I’m not sure why it was so hard to use Dreamfarm’s. Given the price tag of about $35 when I bought it, I didn’t think it was worth it, but looking at their website now, the price has increased by $20 more dollars! Definitely not worth it now!
This is the only Dreamfarm product I’ve purchased that didn’t meet my expectations. Since I didn’t like it, I returned it thanks to Dreamfarm’s awesome return policy – if it doesn’t meet your expectations, you can bring it back. I do love other products I own from this company and think they are very innovative. I have a couple other of their products on my wish list and if I eventually get them, I’ll write reviews on those too.
