I think Scorpios are generally misunderstood more often, compared to other zodiac signs.
There was a video I saw where it asked the question “What sign is she?” and showed a man with a blanket covering himself moving in an intimate motion as if he was with a lover. Then a woman comes into the room from behind him, presumably catching her partner in the act of cheating on her, and started to violently hit him in the head with a random item grabbed from the nearest table. It is quickly revealed that it is a pillow not another woman underneath him, yet she continues to viscously attack him.
The comments of that video had various answers to the question of “What sign is she?” to which many responded with Scorpio. As a Scorpio myself, the thought of physically attacking him would have never entered my mind. Rather I would have slowly backed out of the room, so as to not even be detected that I witnessed what was going on ensuring that he would think I never saw anything. I purposefully would NOT confront him at that moment and I would not be so uncontrollably physically violent whenever I chose to confront him. In fact, I would act as if all is normal for days, weeks or months because in that time, I would be planning how I want to exact my revenge on him, in a way that would be THE most vindictive and calculated way possible.
This is a prime example of how people misunderstand Scorpios based on a preconceived notion that because we are scary and often feared, that we would be excessively reactive to such a situation. In fact, the opposite is more likely for a Scorpio, in that the reaction would be one that is quiet, purposefully deliberate, and controlled. Very much like the Scorpion that is represented for this sign, the victim would not know that the stinger is coming until it is too late and that strike is one that would be of the deadliest nature in a quiet unassuming manner; not smacking someone with a picture frame 50 times that would barely leave a bruise.
The book, “You Are More Than Just Your Sun Sign” by Joan Zodianz describes this characteristic quite well, “Scorpios can be vicious and spiteful as their stinger. This boiling rage usually only comes out when they are provoked or if the situation becomes emotionally charged or trying. Though they can be calm on the outside, underneath they will be thinking of dangerous tactics, which can manifest into vengeance and self-righteousness.”
The real reason one may rightfully fear a Scorpio, is if you wrong one, the chances of them getting back at you in a severe way is quite high since they do not forgive or forget easily, if at all. Scorpios are prone to holding grudges and known to completely cut off people from their lives, considering them dead to them and doing so for an extremely long time, if not forever. The best advice I’d have for anyone is to never betray a Scorpio’s trust or loyalty, unless you are willing to lose them from your life permanently.
Per, “Use Your Planets Wisely” by Jennifer Freed, “People with Scorpio sun tend to have enormous depth, intensity, and courage in truth telling; they want to live directly in the sexy beating heart of things. They are not afraid to transform the current reality, even when there is a price to pay for that transformation. Scorpio sun people are often secretive and guarded, and their tremendous depth and deep, watery energy can sometimes translate to destructive force.”
I have heard Scorpios being described as deep and intense a million times so it is not surprising that was included in the first sentence of that book. I personally have been described as that, including that my eyes and when I look at other people in the eye can come off as intense. I can only comment that I do love getting into deep conversations about life, anything mysterious like the afterlife, aliens, the underworld and other inexplicable topics. And I truly believe that eyes are the windows to a person’s soul and when I look deeply into another person’s eye, I am trying to see the hidden aspects of their soul that they aren’t revealing to me in the words that come out of their mouth! When I am in a topic I am passionate about, I suppose I do come off as intense when speaking about it. I can also act in an intense manner when it comes to something I really want or am interested in, diving deep into research for far much longer than any regular person likely would.
The next most popular reference to Scorpios I’ve heard is that this sign is the most sexual out of all the other signs, since the body part that is ruled by this sign is the reproductive organs. However, there is another misconception here that Scorpios are freaks and always jumping into bed with many partners, but that is not the case. Rather, the best way I can explain this aspect of a Scorpio, is that act of physical intimacy is how a Scorpio best relates to, understands and connects with another human being. They may even opt to withhold it if they don’t feel a deep soul connection with a partner. And because Scorpios are so in tune with their own sexuality, they won’t shy away from discussing the topic without hesitation due to any awkwardness that others would feel in the same situation. This, I think, is yet another reason this sign is known for this characteristic since they can be very open and direct when speaking about it, as if they are talking about the weather. Lastly, if a Scorpio fully trusts and loves their partner, their intensity is likely to shine through in this area of the relationship, including all different types of physical affection.
Transformation and death, which is related to the planet Pluto, is another characteristic tied to this sign, so it is quite common for these folks to completely change themselves from the inside out, constantly think of death and live their lives in accordance with that. As mentioned before they can be unusually fascinated with the afterlife including ghosts, past lives, reincarnation, karma and spiritual or soul related topics. As I look back on my own life, there have been several pivotal moments in which I have completely transformed as a person, no longer resembling who I was before especially in thought, belief systems, attitude or the way I act. In addition, especially after my brother passed away, I constantly think about my own immortality and do find that I am more driven to take specific actions, I would otherwise not have, because of that focus.
Emotional and sensitive, those that fall under this sign tend to be extremely controlling of their emotions, and unlikely to express them, even to people they may trust. My recent blogging of expressing my innermost thoughts and feelings goes against my very nature as a Scorpio and why I feel that much more vulnerable doing this in such a public forum. Yet it is because I want to truly transform myself, that I continue to push myself to be vulnerable day after day and post after post. This also means, a Scorpio may be going through a tornado of emotions within, but no one would have an inkling of it because they are very disciplined to keep it all in check and appear as if everything is perfectly fine. And for a Scorpio to trust people, because patience is another aspect they are known for, that can be a long drawn out process that may take years unless for some reason there is an immediate sense of a soul connection, possibly related to a past life or a karmic connection. They are not one to be easily be deceived by a person’s initial façade that they put forth for the general public. Often willing to wait months and even years to get a sense of a person’s true colors and intentions before gracing them with their trust and actually showing their own true selves. It is also worth mentioning that once a Scorpio’s trust is obtained, they will be the most loyal and protective ally on your side.
Another thing I’d like to touch on, because it is something that is very important for me and my well-being is the need for silence and solitude as a means to recharge, rejuvenate and do all the deep intense self-reflection of hidden emotions to allow myself to grow and transform. It is critical, even with a partner or close friends that I can simply sit in silence with them, not always having to be engaged in conversation, which can get very tiring for me. Privacy is another thing that is very big, as is secrecy, which means Scorpios are the sign whom one can trust with secrets. Don’t bother trying to dig into my private matters unless I purposefully offer it up or try to get info out of me that is not for your ears. I have many secrets that were disclosed to me in the past and all of them will go with me to my grave!
Hopefully this was a good enough description that other Scorpios would agree with what I included in here. It was much more difficult for me to write this post than I thought it would be because I felt so close to it that it was hard to describe myself! I have a lot of Scorpio friends, family, coworkers and acquaintances and would love to hear from them to see if they agree with a lot of these characteristics or if they feel I left out something crucial and important!
