Per my What Does Mars Really Have to do with Men? blog post,, Saturn reflects one’s capacity for discipline, effort, responsibility, rebelliousness or tendency to abide by rules. How you define success and if you care about other’s approval. Governs your limitations, fears and areas you need to grow and be successful. Per Cafe Astrology, where you can go to get your own birth chart, it says Saturn represents contraction and effort.
My Saturn is in Leo and the way I’d generically describe myself when it comes to discipline and responsibility is similar to what I said in my Ascendant or Rising Sign post, basically that I am a very responsible person, who can have the discipline and focus to put in a ton of effort to achieve whatever it is that I set out to do. With that being said, if the goal is related to something that I don’t want to do, such as going to the gym and working out, then that all goes out the window and I will have to be dragged and forced to get it done.
According to my natal/birth chart from Café Astrology this is the description the report provides:
In a position of authority, she likes and assumes responsibilities. She receives favors from patrons, who recognize her merits or similarly she receives honors in return for well-accomplished tasks.
I will start by saying I don’t like being in a position of authority, but when I am put into such position, I take it very seriously and will strive to be as responsible as I can possibly manage to be. It is because I know a lot of people or things are riding on the way I execute in that position and I don’t want to be the one to let anyone down or have something not be successful. As for receiving favors from people who recognize my work effort, I would attribute my career progression to that since all of my job role changes were not because I was seeking a different opportunity, but rather asked if I wanted to either become a lead or move to a different role or team since I was known to be an excellent candidate for the position. I have not had to look for a job and formally interview for a role since I joined my company! I know the second half of the sentence is also true in that I have regularly been giving kudos for when I accomplish things well.
As indicated in my What Does Mars Really Have to do with Men? post, I will also go over another person’s chart, referred to as Kali, who is born on the same month and day as I was, but different year and location to offer a comparison of how two people with the same birth day, can be vastly different despite both being Scorpios. According to Kali’s natal/birth chart from Café Astrology her Saturn is in Scorpio and this is the description the report provides:
Observant, self-controlled, unforgiving, tough, methodical, a researcher, an investigator. Lots of courage, self-assurance, and inclines to keep her cool.
Possible issues: Making no concessions or compromises for fear of loss of control or respect. She might become a fanatic of a creed, a party, work, or a religion in rare cases.
We both have a Trine between Saturn – Neptune, which contributes to the following:
Her plans are realized in a methodical fashion. She works hard to achieve success.
Being methodical comes naturally to me, whether it is a work related project to even how I clean my bathroom or cook. For example, when I follow a recipe and it says to put 6 different ingredients into a bowl, I will follow it in the exact order it is stated on the step of the recipe. Otherwise, I will confuse myself if I do it any other way and that puts me at risk of missing something all together. This is how I’ve always been because of how my mind seems to work. As for the second sentence, I’ve already expressed a few times before that I work hard. Pretty much anything I have worked to do, I can say I have achieved success with.
We also have a Sextile between Saturn – Pluto that says:
She perseveres, achieving her projects through hard work.
I think this is very similar to the Trine with Saturn and Neptune’s second sentence and is probably also influenced by my Capricorn Rising sign. Recently, a friend told me that she had to work overtime for a couple weeks straight and how she struggled with it. She knew that I have worked long and hard hours throughout my career and that the worst of it could be months if not a full year of even longer hours than she experienced. She said to me, “I don’t know how you did it. I could barely do it for two weeks in a row.” I think that reflects my level of perseverance of hard work for achievements pretty well.
Once again, I felt Café Astrology’s description was a little light for this planetary placement and eventually will do some more research to see what else I can find out. I am sure there is more to it than the two simple sentences it provided.
