Per my What Does Mars Really Have to do with Men? blog post, Uranus plays a large role in history and the future as it can lend to the sudden destruction or major changes at the societal level. Provides understanding into the ways change comes from or happens to you. Per Cafe Astrology, where you can go to get your own birth chart, it says Uranus represents individual liberty, egoistic liberty.
My Uranus is in Scorpio and the way I’d generically describe the way change happens with me is that it is usually triggered by a major event, often tied to a close relationship, and also happens suddenly and in a major way. I have gone through, what I call major transformations, several times in my life already, where my personality, desires, or mannerisms shift significantly. Almost as if a big part of me died and a new, completely different version is born. The earliest example that comes to mind is, growing up in California, I was adamant about never wanting to live anywhere else. I held onto this mindset strongly until I was almost 30, when I went on my first business trip to Wisconsin and got a rude awakening. You can read more about that on my Across the Miles, My Different Lifestyles: Why I left California Edition blog post. I have since lived in a few different states and do not have any desire to ever return to California again since my viewpoint of living in that state versus any other is now the complete opposite of how it used to be from when I was younger. Another example is when my younger kid brother passed away. Losing him, the rock of my life, drastically changed the way I looked at life and obviously lived it. That resulted in my travelling 200 days a year for fun because I wanted to, instead of having to for work. That was a lifestyle I would have never predicted when I left California to live in the east coast. Because of those experiences, I felt I continued to grow and evolve as a person. The most recent example is when I ended my previous relationship to be with my current boyfriend in what I think is probably the most major transformation of all since it was based on the decision to truly put myself, my wants and desires first, not only from a romantic perspective, but in most other areas of my life as well.
According to my natal/birth chart from Café Astrology this is the description the report provides:
Intelligent and subtle. Usually she adores research, inquiry, investigation. Very sensual. May want to explore new ways to connect with others.
Subtle is my preferred approach with most everything in my life. When I had my last major change, that was during a point when I began researching metaphysical topics such as Feng Shui, Astrology, Numerology, and Tarot. I spent hours day after day, week after week asking questions, watching informational videos, listening to educational podcasts and online searches to get as much information that I could on the various topics. I will say I think the fact that the placement is in Scorpio which is known to be intrigued with the dark side, underworld, taboo or mystical topics seems to explain why I started to deep dive into these particular subjects versus other more mainstream areas. As for the last sentence of exploring new ways to connect with others, I’m not quite sure about that one as I can’t really tell in what context that may be referring to nor can I think of any specific examples of how I may have done that in the past either.
Since Uranus moves so slowly, every 7 years and its sign placement affects a whole generation making the description generic for everyone born in that 7 year timeframe, it is said that aspects to this planet along with the House placement will provide further insight at an individual’s level, so I will touch on the aspects as well.
The first aspect I have is an Opposition between Uranus – Lilith, which indicates:
She may have difficulties achieving a peaceful love life. She can have lots of adventures, love-at-first-sights which can lead her into risky territory, as these can complicate and perhaps even poison her life.
I would agree that my love life, until this point, generally has not been peaceful and that I have had a lot of adventures in my past relationships. However I disagree that I’ve ever fallen in love at first sight and wouldn’t even say I’ve fallen into lust at first sight except maybe only a couple times. I have always fallen for someone only after I had gotten to know them fairly well and it is after I find their personality attractive that I find them attractive physically as well. Regardless of how quickly I’ve fallen in love, I have had some complicated relationships and see how some ended up being like a poison in my life because it was hurting me more than being beneficial.
The second aspect I have is a Conjunction between Uranus – Midheaven that explains:
She must have a job that allows her many freedoms, something non-routine. She likes change, possesses a lot of energy and knows how to influence others in spite of her originality.
I find this description to be interesting because it is my current job that I have stayed at the longest and is the one that has provided me a sense of freedom, despite having to work incredibly long hours over the years, because I have been a remote worker long before COVID made it a norm. It is in this role that I was able to travel extensively across the U.S. while I worked since I did not need to report to an office. Because I was the type of worker who was effective and reliable, I earned the trust of my manager to work from whatever city and state I wanted. It is also in this job that the daily tasks and responsibilities are varied enough to constantly keep me challenged. I don’t know if I can honestly say that I like change, but I can say I generally do have a lot of energy and do a decent job of influencing others. I am a little unclear on why, though, it says I influence people in spite of my originality. I wonder if that means I tend towards out of the box approaches.
As indicated in my What Does Mars Really Have to do with Men? post, I will also go over another person’s chart, referred to as Kali, who is born on the same month and day as I was, but different year and location to offer a comparison of how two people with the same birth day, can be vastly different despite both being Scorpios. According to Kali’s natal/birth chart from Café Astrology her Uranus is in Aries and this is the description the report provides:
Inventive, progressive, and innovative mind. Likes her independence. There can be troubles following through on strong hunches and exciting new ideas since the spirit is in the spark of new ideas and innovations.
Kali has 3 different aspects, with the first being a Square between Uranus – Pluto that describes her as:
She can be tense as if change is imminent.
The second aspect on Kali’s birth chart is a Sextile between Uranus – Lilith that says:
She lives through marvelous adventures – without much follow-up, it is true, but these leave happy memories. She can have many such adventures and fantastic love-at-first-sight encounters.
Kali’s last aspect is a Sextile between Uranus – Ascendant, which conveys:
She is always changing, somewhat unstable. She is ready to innovate, to change everything. She is inventive.
