Travel Toiletries Hack

I’ve gone through several types of containers to hold my lotions and potions, from original containers found in Target’s travel section and product sample containers received from various makeup counters to made-for-travel bottles such as GoToob, which I actually recommend since they are designed very well and have withstood my travels for several years now (do not waste your $$$ on the knock off versions, I did and regretted it when they leaked and lids cracked, plus GoToob has a lifetime warranty).

What frustrated me most was trying to find the best container to hold my facial products because, I don’t need a 2 oz. bottle of face wash, much less eye cream for a 1 week trip weighing my luggage down. A million thanks to whoever came up with the hack I’m now going to share with you, because it is brilliant!

Contact Lens Cases!

As a nearsighted person, who primarily wears daily contact lenses I found myself with a stash of unused contact lens cases in the back of a bathroom drawer, which are designed specifically to be leak proof. These work perfectly for facial products since it holds the right amount of product, does not leak (be sure not to overfill it-it can create a mess when screwing a lid back on), takes up minimal space in toiletry bags and doesn’t add additional weight like a bigger bottle filled with excess product would. As a bonus, since I use different day vs. night face and eye creams, I can fill one side with the day and the other with the night. If you use multiple products resulting in several cases, a fine tipped sharpie works well to label the contents on the lid, or if you’re more OCD like me, a label maker works great too.

Did this hack blow your mind? Mine sure was when I came across it and I had to share this in hopes of easing a fellow traveler’s frustration. Let me know if you tried it and what you think!

  1. Ever since I got lasik, I no longer have anymore contact lens cases lying around. πŸ™„ I love this idea, tho! My gf gave me a little clear round travel container that I use (size of one lens holder) and it works well. Great post, thanks!

    1. I wish I qualified for Lasik! I used similar little round containers in the past, but with my constant travel they would eventually crack on me. So glad you love this hack and appreciate your time to comment!

  2. Although I don’t travel with tons of facial products; this is quite clever.

I wish I qualified too. Apparently my cornea ate too thin. Booooo

There was a point when I considered implantable contacts but after researching the risks I decided not to. Siiigh
