“the life-changing magic of tidying up” Chapter 3 books summary:
Take all books off their shelves and handle each one, but do NOT start reading the book. Keep it only if it gives you a thrill of pleasure when you touch it.
Sub categorize by:
General (Pleasure reading)
Practical (References, cookbooks)
Visual (photograph collections)
Magazines
Don’t keep a previously unread book because you think you MIGHT have time later to read it for the first time. Nor should you keep books you already read and were planning to read again or keep for reference if you haven’t already done so multiple times since you first read it. Chances are you will not read it if you let it gather dust for months or years. If after discarding a book you realize later that you actually wanted it, you will buy another copy and this time – actually read it.

Ok I can’t argue with your logic because it pertains to me in some ways. Yesterday I did reference a cook book that I hadn’t opened in years though.

I think reference type books are a little different, but still use the does it spark joy test when trying to determine whether to keep it or not

Hmmm just thought about how I don’t have a blog post on one of my Filipino recipes yet. Thanks for the idea!
