“the life-changing magic of tidying up” Chapter 3 sentimental value items summary:
Disposing of items with sentimental value should not cause fear that you are losing precious memories as those will never vanish even if you discard the items associated to those memories. More importantly, we do not live in the past, live to feel the joy and excitement here and now. By dealing with each sentimental item and deciding what to discard, you process your past. If you keep things in a drawer or box, your past will be a weight that holds you back and keeps you from living in the present.
Keepsakes from your children are fine to keep if they still bring you joy. Things from your childhood such as report cards and letters should be disposed of and only things that bring you pure joy should be kept.
The space we live in should be for the person we are becoming now, not the person we were in the past.

Lol at report cards; I think I can part with those. Weird thing about me is that there were times when I averaged a “c” in grade skool <–see what I did there… just cuz I was bored. Oddly enough I was one of the "smarter" kids.
There was this one teacher that made me "A" out of spite cuz she implied that I couldn't. Screw you McManus (angry flashback lol)
