Minimalism: Learning to do Without

Minimalism “the life-changing magic of tidying up” summary:

After clients have gone through the process, none of them have complained of problems after they got rid of something because discarding items that don’t spark joy doesn’t have adverse effects. This does not mean you won’t regret discarding something – that is likely to occur. But don’t worry about it because any problem caused by a lack of something can be solved with action.

Think of it this way, what if you realize you need something you know you got rid off like a document (since you got rid of all papers). First of all, there is no time and stress searching your entire house for who knows how long. You immediately know you don’t have it so you can start thinking of what to do. With various resources at our fingertips, typically you can find what you need online or call a number to get the information. You come to the realization that the solution is surprisingly easy and life becomes easier when you know that if you are lacking something, things will still work out.

On a related note, people who have gone through this process no longer leave the decision making to other people, look for external causes to problems or people to blame because they hone their own decision making skills.
