Minimalism: Papers In Progress – Part 4

In my last Minimalism: Papers In Progress – Part 3, I tackled a file drawer, frustrated despite throwing away several bags. I didn’t feel accomplished because the drawer still appeared visibly full. Because of that I purposefully avoided spending time on this for a couple weeks. Being overwhelmed by all my paper, I knew I needed to do something to get back on track.

Within that file cabinet were 3 accordion receipt holders amongst the files of papers. I decided to take a break from the standard files and shred receipts from 2 of the thinner folders which resulted in one bag.

Completing 2 of the 3 in one session did a lot for my motivation. By switching to shredding receipts, which surprisingly still took a few hours (my shredder only runs 6 mins before needing a 25 minute cool down), I regained my determination to keep at the process.  Sometimes, you need to give yourself a small win to keep at the bigger goal and this was that for me!
